Far Eastern Railway Loads Coal in OpenTop Containers

  • Far Eastern Railway has loaded the first shipment of coal in OpenTop containers from the station of Ussuriysk to China. The train is routed via the Grodekovo/Suifenge border crossing.

    Using OpenTop containers allows of avoiding reloading coal from the Russian standard 1500 mm gauge onto the Chinese 1435 mm gauge thus preventing environmental risks and cutting delivery time.

    Russian Railways say the company intends to continue implementing OpenTop containers.
