On week 18, freight rates in the Azov region mostly remained on the previous week’s level. Thus, the rate for a 3K parcel of wheat from Azov to Marmara made $18 pmt, Sea Lines shipbrokers report.
Despite the continued lockdown in Turkey and the complicated economic situation in that country, the flow of cargoes in that direction remains stable, which allows of maintaining the current level of freight rates.
In addition, there is a large number of cargoes designated for Italy, in particular to the east coast ports. Commodities shipped to that country include corn, wheat, beet pulp and sunflower husk.
Shipments from river ports are gradually gaining momentum. Many charterers have already signed contracts for shipping grains to Italy and Greece from the ports of the Middle Volga. Sea Lines also report increasing cabotage shipments of grain to the Russian ports of Kavkaz, Rostov and Astrakhan.
On week 18, freight rates for 3,000-5,000 dwt bulkers from the port of Azov increased.
According to Sea Lines, freight rates for wheat parcels from Azov made $16 to the Black Sea, $18 to Marmara, $30 to Mersin and $34 to Egypt.
Freight rates from Rostov AB (after bridge) are $1 above, from Rostov BB (before bridge) the same, from Yeisk and Taganrog $1 below, and from Temryuk $3 below those from the port of Azov.
In the Caspian, freight rates grew.
On week 18, freight rates for shipping corn by 3,000 dwt bulkers to Iran made $20 from Aktau, $22 from Makhachkala, and $24 from Astrakhan.
