During January-March 2021, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was down 3.9% year-on-year to 1.69 bn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, down 6.9% year-on-year to 1.07 bn tons.
Rail cargo grew by 0.2% year-on-year up to 307.4 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was up 2.7% year-on-year to 300.6 mn tons.
Sea freight decreased by 13.8% year-on-year down to 4.5 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume declined by 14.9% year-on-year down to 6.5 mn tons.
Air transport carried 0.4 mn tons, up 54.8% year-on-year.
In March, cargo transportation volume increased month-on-month by all of the transport modes.
