Container Traffic via Russian Far East Basin Ports in March Up 22.3%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Russian Far East basin ports in March 2021 increased by 22.3% year-on-year.

    Export grew by 21%, import surged by 61.1%. Cabotage was down 0.3%, and transit down 14.6%.

    The share of the Russian Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in March 2021 amounted to 35.4%.

    Laden container throughput in the Russian Far East increased by 30.8% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 7% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 93%.

    Imports made 46.1% of all the laden containers, exports 27.5%, cabotage 20,8% and transit 5.5%.

    Empty container traffic was up 0.8%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 59.3% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in March. Vostochny handled 25.3%, and Korsakov 6.6% of the total.
