Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has laid down the first MR product tanker. It is the lead ship in a series of three to be built for SCF Atlantic, a subsidiary of Sovcomflot.
MR tankers are designed for carrying oil products and condensed gas. They will have engines burning environmentally friendly LNG. They will have ice class notation1B allowing of operating year-round in the Baltic Sea.
The 180 m LOA, 32 m beam and 13.4 m draft vessel will be named “Ivan Aivazovsky” to commemorate the great Russian seascape painter.
