Container Traffic via Ukrainian Ports in January-February 2021

  • In January-February 2021, the sea ports of Ukraine handled 161.2 thousand TEU, down 7.3% year-on-year.

    By way of comparison, Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk during January-February 2021 handled 152 thousand TEU growing by 10%.

    According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 78.2 thousand TEU, down 5.1% year-on-year.

    Import decreased by 8.3% down to 77.9 thousand TEU. Transit container traffic via the major Ukrainian ports declined by 23.3% down to 5.1 thousand TEU. Cabotage was non-existent.

    Odessa handled 104.8 thousand TEU in January-February, down 4.1% year-on-year.

    Container traffic via Pivdenniy (formerly, Yuzhny) decreased by 14.7% to make 32.2 thousand TEU.

    Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 24.2 thousand TEU, down 10.2% year-on-year.

    Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) did not handle containers in January-February 2021.
