Признак продолжающейся стабилизации на российском авторынке

‘Sign of Continuous Stabilization’ in Russian Car Market

  • According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB) statistics, the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia during January-February 2021 declined by 1.4% year-on-year making 215.3 thousand units.

In February, the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles grew by 0.8% year-on-year and by 26.1% month-on-month to make 121.1 thousand units.

“After slight decrease in the first month of this year, the February new vehicle sales of 120 081 units show again a slight increase versus same month of the previous year. This seems to be a sign of continuous stabilization followed by a further recovery month. In general, the market remains at the last year’s level as the AMC announced at the recent press conference. March will provide a more accurate picture with sales data from all the reporting brands,” Thomas Staertzel, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, commented.

Lada remained the leader of the Russian car market in February with its sales up 13.1% year-on-year to 28.3 thousand units.

KIA continues to rate the second with its sales amounting to 16.5 thousand cars, down 3.5% year-on-year.

Hyundai remains the third with its sales declining by 3.7% year-on-year to 13.8 thousand cars.

Renault ranked the fourth, its sales increased by 0.5% up to 10.2 thousand units.

Toyota forced Škoda out of the Top 5 and ranks the fifth with its sales down 7.3% to 7.6 thousand units.

Among the car brands that demonstrated the most spectacular growth in February Opel (up 13-fold) and Chery (up 4.4-fold).

The brands that saw their sales decline the most were Hyundai (-94%), Jaguar (-80%), Chrysler (-75%), Zotye (-73%), Chevrolet (-60%), and Lifan (-48%).
