Coal and Coke Export in 2020 Down

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, in 2020 Russia exported 199.1 mn tons of coal, down 3% year-on-year. In terms of value, coal export amounted to $12.4 bn, down 22.5% year-on-year.

    Coal import during the period under report made 22.4 mn tons, up 7% year-on-year, worth $318.7 mn, down 13.3% year-on-year.

    Coke and coal char export in 2020 made more than 2.7 mn tons, down 3.9% year-on-year, worth $448.1 mn (-25.1% year-on-year).

    In December, coal export made 21.6 mn tons, up 20.4% year-on-year and up 24.9% month-on-month. Value-wise, coal export declined by 1.8% year-on-year and grew by 15.6% month-on-month making $1.2 bn.

    Coke and coal char export in December amounted to 250.7 thousand tons, up 3.7% year-on-year and down 1.9% month-on-month. In terms of value it was worth $45 mn, down 6.4% year-on-year and down 6.1% month-on-month.
