TOP-5 Russian Terminals Throughput in 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total cargo throughput of all the Russian sea ports during 2020 amounted to 820.77 mn tons (-2.3%). Five terminals handled 223.2 mn tons or 27.2% of this volume.

    CPC-R in Novorossiysk became the leader in 2020 in terms of cargo throughput. Its cargo traffic decreased by 6.7% down to 59 mn tons. In 2019 it ranked the second.

    Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port that was the leader in 2019 rated the second in 2020. Cargo traffic via its terminals amounted to 54 mn tons, down 26% year-on-year.

    Primorsk Commercial Port that was the third in 2019 handled 49.3 mn tons, down 19.2% year-on-year.

    Cargo throughput via Transneft Kozmino Port in Vostochny decreased by 0.7% down to 32.95 mn tons. In 2019, it also was the fourth.

    Vostochny Port handled 27.9 mn tons. Its cargo traffic was up 9.2% year-on-year. In 2019, it ranked the sixth.

    It should be noted that the stevedores, which demonstrated the highest growth did not get into the Top-5. Oteko Portservice in Taman saw its cargo traffic surge 5.4-fold, Nord+ in Sovetskaya Gavan was up 4.5-fold and Arctic Consulting Service in Arkhangelsk up 3.9-fold.

    The largest decrease in cargo traffic was in Commodity Service in Murmansk (-95.4%), and Yuzhny Terminal in Sevastopol (-84.6%) and Nakhodka oil bunker (-84.5%).
