Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has started building a third LNG-powered MR product tanker, with steel cutting commenced, the yards said in a statement.
The 50 dwt tanker will have a length of over 180 m and a width over 32 m with a draft of 13 m. The vessel will have a 1B ice class allowing it to operate year-round in the ice conditions of the Baltic.
The tankers of the series are designed for transporting oil products and condensed gas and will be deployed on long-term time-charter agreements between Sovcomflot and Novatek.
The vessels will be powered by liquefied natural gas.
