Экспорт угля и кокса, 9 месяцев 2020: в сентябре вывоз угля и кокса увеличился

Coal and Coke Export in January-September 2020

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, in January-September 2020 Russia exported 146.3 mn tons of coal, down 4.7% year-on-year. In terms of value, coal export amounted to $9.4 bn, down 23.8% year-on-year.

    Coal import during the period under report remained much on the previous year’s level making 16.1 mn tons, down 4.7% year-on-year, worth $224.8 mn, down 23.8% year-on-year.

    Coke and coal char export in January-September 2020 made 1.8 mn tons, down 11.7% year-on-year, worth $336 mn (-33.7% year-on-year).

    In September, coal export made 20.2 mn tons, up 5.6% year-on-year and up 25.7% month-on-month. Value-wise, coal export declined by 13.5% year-on-year and grew by 24.3% month-on-month making $1.2 bn.

    According to market analysts, coke and coal char prices rose significantly during September due to a recovery in demand outside of China and concerns over a possible supply shortage. 

    Coke and coal char export in September amounted to 223.6 thousand tons, up 1.4% year-on-year and up 17.4% month-on-month. In terms of value it was worth $39.1 mn, down 20.2% year-on-year and up 16% month-on-month.
