Russian Imports More Manganese Ore at Lower Price in H1 2020

    According to SeaNews Russian Foreign Trade Customs Statistics online service, during the first half of 2020, Russia imported 626 thousand tons of manganese ore (+21.2% year-on-year) worth $103.1 mn dollars (-14.2%).

    While manganese ore was shipped to Russia from 11 countries in H1 2020, significant volumes were imported from 3 countries.

    Thus, imports from South Africa increased in terms of tonnage by 27.8% to 465 thousand tons, in monetary terms, on the contrary, it decreased by 14% down to $74.9 mn. Three quarters of the volume was designated for Chelyabinsk Oblast. Significant volumes were also shipped to Tula and Kemerovo Oblasts.

    Gabon exported to Russia 105.2 thousand tons (+37.2%) of manganese ore worth $22 mn (-8.3%). All of it was shipped to Chelyabinsk Oblast.

    Manganese ore import from Kazakhstan decreased by 26.8% down to 54.5 thousand tons worth $5.6 mn, down 32.5% year-on-year. Kazakhstan-mined ore was shipped to Kemerovo, Sverdlovsk, Tula and Chelyabinsk Oblasts, as well as to Moscow.

    In addition, small volumes of manganese ore were imported to Russia from the Netherlands, France, Ukraine, Georgia, Kirghizia, India, USA and China.
