Azov and Black Sea Basin Throughput Down 24.4% in July

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total cargo throughput via the Azov and Black Sea basin ports in July 2020 decreased by 24.4% year-on-year. Transit declined by 26.4%, export by 25%, cabotage was down 21.2%. Import, on the contrary, grew by 10.4%.

    The share of the Azov and Black Sea basin in the total cargo traffic via all the Russian seaports in July 2020 amounted to 29.4%.

    Almost half of the total was oil and products, with crude oil accounting for 30.7% of the overall throughput, and oil products for 19.1%. The share of coal and coke amounted to 21%.

    The highest growth was in the ore segment (up 2.1-fold), metal scrap (+69.3%) and coal and coke (+55.8%).

    The commodities that decreased the most were Ro-Ro (-92.1%), sugar (-79.1%) and ferry cargo (-48.3%).

    Novorossiysk accounted for 54.1% of the aggregate cargo throughput via the Russian Azov and Black basin sea ports in July. Рort Kavkaz handled 12%, and Tuapse 9.7% of the total.
