According to SeaNews Russian Foreign Trade Customs Statistics online service, in Q2 2020 Russia imported $52.9 bn worth of goods, up $0.2 bn or 0.4% year-on-year. In terms of tonnage, imports remained on the previous year’s level amounting to 29.4 mn tons.
The share of the Top 5 countries of origin in the entire import amount made 47.4% in terms of value and 66.3% in terms of tonnage.
In terms of value, China remains the leading trade partner of Russia import-wise. In Q1 2020, import from China decreased by 3.3% down to $11.6 mn.
Imports from Germany increased by 4% up to $5.2 bn.
Import from the US to Russia was worth $3.3 mn, same as in the first quarter of 2019.
Imports from Belarus increased by 8% up to $2.7 bn.
France exported to Russia $2.3 bn worth of goods, up 27.8% year-on-year.
In terms of tonnage, Kazakhstan rates the first in among the top exporters to Russia. During the first quarter of 2020, imports from Kazakhstan increased by 4.6% up to 11.4 mn tons.
Belarus rates the second with 3 mn tons of cargo delivered into Russia, 7.7% less than during the first quarter of last year.
Imports from China decreased by 7.7% down to 2.4 mn tons.
Ukraine’s export to Russia made 1.9 mn tons (-26.9% year-on-year).
Imports from Finland surged 2.7-fold up to 0.8 mn tons.
