Российскому моряку отказывают в медицинской помощи в Шанхае

Russian Seafarer Denied Medical Assistance in Shanghai

  • A Russian member of the “BBC St. Petersburg” (IMO 9736200) is being denied medical evacuation in Shanghai for fear of COVID-19, a spokesperson for the Seafarers’ Union of Russia told SeaNews.

The man developed an acute dental complication on May 7 and there is a risk to his life, according to Yury Sukhorikov, Chairman of the Seafarers’ Union of Russia.

The Chinese authorities insist that the patients should be quarantined for 14 days before getting medical aid and say there is no bed available for post-surgery recovery.

The Union has contacted the Russian ministries of foreign affairs and transport and the Consulate General in Shanghai requesting them to interfere with the situation.
