The consolidated throughput of the stevedoring companies incorporated in Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group made 34.1 mn tons during January-March 2020 declining by 5.2%.
Novorossiysk-based assets of the group (these include Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port proper, Novoroslesexport, Importpishscheprom, Novorossiysk Shiprepair Yard and Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal, a joint venture with Chernomorskie Main Pipeline Company) handled 17.6 mn tons, down 18.6% year-on-year.
Throughput via Baltiysk (Baltic Stevedore Co) decreased both in terms of TEU (-27.3%) and tonnage (-22.7%). Primorsk was up 15.8% to 16.3 mn tons.
Liquid bulk, which accounts for the largest share in the aggregate throughput of the Group, increased by 6.7% year-on-year up to 28.3 mn tons.
Combined crude oil traffic via Novorossiysk and Primorsk grew by 7.4% year-on-year up to 17.6 mn tons. While Primorsk was up 15.4% to 1.2 mn tons, Novorossiysk saw its crude traffic decline by 4.1% down to 6.5 mn tons.
Combined oil products volume increased by 5.3% year-on-year up to 10.4 mn tons. Primorsk was up 16.8% to 5.1 mn tons, and Novorossiysk, where Sheskharis, IPP and Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal operate, was down 3.9% to 5.3 mn tons.
Solid bulk plummeted by 57.9% year-on-year down to 1.6 mn tons. Coal declined by 10.2% down to 341 thousand tons, sugar dropped by 99.8 down to 5 thousand tons.
Ferrous ore handling grew by 27.3% up to 997 thousand tons due to the growing export activity. Chemicals grew by 13.1% up to 216 thousand tons.
General cargo declined by 29.2% year-on-year down to 2.9 mn tons. Ferrous metals and cast iron were down 32% to 2.6 mn tons, and timber and logs down 61.5% to 32 thousand tons.
Non-ferrous metals grew by 18.8% up to 284 thousand tons, perishables were up 68.6% to 26 thousand tons,
Containerized cargo traffic declined both in Novorossiysk and Baltiysk.
