  • According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Caspian basin ports in January 2020 grew by 9.8% year-on-year. Import was up 18.5%, and export increased by 34.6%. Cabotage declined by 37.8%.

    The share of the Caspian basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in January 2020 amounted to 0.1%.

    Laden container throughput in the Caspian increased by 25.6% year-on-year. Reefer containers were non-existent in January. Imports made 43.5% of all the laden containers, cabotage accounted for 8.9%, and exports for 47.6% of the total.

    Empty container traffic dropped by 61.5%.

    100% of all the Russian Caspian container traffic was handled in Astrakhan.
