TransContainer has launched the first tank container block train in the Russian Railways network. On February 12, the train carrying of 114 tank containers with oil and chemical products left Salavat for Kotka in Finland.
The new service was launched in the framework of an agreement between TransContainer and Gazpromneftekhim Salavat providing to transporting 6,000 tons of oil and chemical products a month to the Finnish port of Mussalo.
The initial service frequency will make 2-3 departures a month, in future it can be expanded to 4-5 trains a month.
At present, TransContainer is studying options for organizing tank container block trains to the Russian ports in the Black Sea.
