На российском авторынке преобладает негативный тренд

Negative trend prevailing in Russian car market

  • According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB) statistics, the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in January-November 2019 declined by 2.8% year-on-year making 1.58 mn units. In November, the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles were down 6.4% year-on-year to 156.8 thousand.

“With over 6% volume loss, November sales confirmed the prevailing negative trend in the Russian car market this year. Of course, the year-on-year comparison should consider the strong sales in the latter part of the previous year, on the back of the anticipated VAT increase. For exactly the same reason however we do not expect to see a trend recovery in December”, commented Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.

Lada remained the leader of the Russian car market in November with its sales decreasing for the first time since the year start by 7.3% year-on-year down to 31.2 thousand units.

KIA continues to rate the second with its sales amounting to 19.6 thousand cars, down 7.3% year-on-year.

Hyundai remains the third with its sales growing by 2.7% up to 16.3 thousand cars.

Renault saw its sales decrease by 5.1% year-on-year down to 12.8 thousand units.

Volkswagen rates the fifth, its sales declined by 10% down to 9.2 thousand units.

Among the car brands that demonstrated the most spectacular growth in November were Changan (up 15.8-fold), Haval (up 3.2-fold), Brilliance (up 2.5-fold), Geely (up 2.3-fold), FIAT commercial vehicles (up 2.2-fold), and Chery (up 2-fold).
