Coal and Coke Export

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, in January-October 2019 Russia exported some 169.5 mn tons of coal, up 5.1% year-on-year. In terms of value, coal export declined by 1.5% down to $49 bn.

    Coal import during the period under report made 17.6 mn tons, down 1.6% year-on-year, worth $309.5 mn (-3.8%).

    Coke and coal char export during the first 10 months of the year increased by 2.8% up to over 2.3 mn tons. In terms of value it was down 1.7% to $558.7 mn.

    In October, coal export made about 15.9 mn tons, up 7.2% year-on-year and down 16.7% month-on-month. Value-wise, coal export declined by 15.5% year-on-year and by 18.6% month-on-month making $1.1 bn.

    Coke and coal char export in October amounted to 243.4 thousand tons, down 2.9% year-on-year and up 10.3% month-on-month. In terms of value it was worth $52.2 mn, down 8.3% year-on-year and up 6.5% month-on-month.
