According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-September Russia exported some 22.7 mn tons of wheat and meslin, down 29.9% year-on-year. In terms of value, grain export declined 23.5% down to $4.6 bn.
Wheat import into Russia during January-August 2019 dropped by 42.1% down to 128.9 thousand tons. Corn import declined by 20.7% down to 28 thousand tons. Barley import made 4.9 thousand tons, down 61.4% year-on-year.
In terms of value, wheat import was down 13.6% to $30.6 mn. Barley import increased by 15% up to $2.3 mn, while corn import was down 26.3% to $94.1 mn.
In September alone, wheat and meslin export made some 4.2 mn tons, down 8.4% year-on-year and down 14.6% month-on-month. In terms of value, it decreased by 13.3% year-on-year and by 15.2% month-on-month down to $778.7 mn.
Wheat import in September made 6.7 thousand tons, up 42.6% year-on-year and down 9.5% month-on-month. Corn import decreased by 16.7% year-on-year and surged by 66.7% month-on-month to make 0.5 thousand tons.
In terms of value, wheat import in September 2019 made $1.8 mn, up 2.3-fol year-on-year and up 5.9% month-on-month. Corn import declined by 55.6% year-on-year and grew by 33.3% month-on-month amounting to $700 thousand.
