According to the RF Federal Customs Service, in January-September 2019 Russia exported almost 153.5 mn tons of coal, up 4.9% year-on-year. In terms of value, coal export remained on the previous year’s level at $12.3 bn.
Coal import during the period under report made 16 mn tons, same as in January-September 2018 worth $285.8 mn (-0.5%).
Coke and coal char export during the first 9 months of the year increased by 3.6% up to 2.1 mn tons. In terms of value it was down 0.9% to $506.6 mn.
In September, coal export made about 19.1 mn tons, down 1.3% year-on-year and up 5.6% month-on-month. Value-wise, coal export declined by 22.5% year-on-year and by 1.2% month-on-month making $1.36 bn.
Coke and coal char export in September amounted to 220.6 thousand tons, up 0.7% year-on-year and up 26.3% month-on-month. In terms of value it was worth $49 mn, down 8.2% year-on-year and up 21.6% month-on-month.
