Crude Export Up, Products Export Down

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, Russia’s crude oil export in January-August increased by 2.5% year-on-year to make 173.4 mn tons. In terms of value, crude oil export declined by 3% down to $79.9 bn.

    Oil products export in January-August decreased by 10.2% down to 91.7 mn tons. In terms of value it was down 14.9% to $43.9 bn.

    Diesel fuel export made 33.6 mn tons in terms of tonnage (-11.1% year-on-year) and $18.9 bn in terms of value (-14.9%).

    Petrol export in January-August increased by 4.6% year-on-year up to 3.1 mn tons worth about $1.7 bn, almost the same as a year ago (-0.2%).

    In August, Russia exported some 23.3 mn tons of crude, up 7.1% year-on-year and up 0.8% month-on-month. In terms of value, crude oil export declined by 26.4% year-on-year and 1.2% month-on-month to make $10.3 bn.

    Oil products export in August decreased by 15.6% year-on-year and increased by 1.4% month-on-month to make 10.6 mn tons worth $5 bn (down 26.4% year-on-year and up 0.6% month-on-month).

    Diesel fuel export made 4.1 mn tons (down 13.2% year-on-year and up 9% month-on-month) worth $2.3 bn (down 23.4% year-on-year and up 6.8% month-on-month).

    Car petrol export in August increased by 9.6% year-on-year and by 1.9% month-on-month up to 291.2 thousand tons worth $168.9 mn, down 1.9% year-on-year and up 1.9% month-on-month.

    Natural gas export in January-August amounted to 143.3 bn cbm, down 3.5% year-on-year. In terms of value, it also declined, by 9.2% down to $28.4 bn.

    Liquefied natural gas export during the first 8 months of the year increased by 48.9% year-on-year up to 39.9 mn cbm, its value was up 46.2% to $5.5 bn.

    In August, natural gas export made 16.5 bn cbm, down 11.3% year-on-year but up 3.2% month-on-month. Value-wise, it was worth some $2.7 bn (-35.3% year-on-year and +2.6% month-on-month)

    LNG export in August made 5.6 mn cbm declining by 1.8% both year-on-year and growing by 16.7% month-on-month. In terms of value, LNG export dropped by 41.1% year-on-year and increased by 16.5% month-on-month making some $549.6 mn.
