According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-August 2019 Russia exported 28.1 mn tons of ferrous metals, down 9% year-on-year. In terms of value, ferrous metals export declined by 18.1% down to $12.8 bn.
Intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export was down 8.5% year-on-year to some 9.8 mn tons. In terms of value, it decreased by 22.4% down to $4.2 bn.
In August, intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export was down 15.3% year-on-year and down 14.6% month-on-month making slightly over 1 mn tons. In terms of value, it was down 32% year-on-year and down 15.7% month-on-month to $414.4 mn.
Iron and unalloyed steel flat section export in January-August declined by 14.3% year-on-year down to 4.7 mn tons worth $2.6 bn, down 21.3%.
In August, this commodity export was down 23.8% year-on-year and 27.8% month-on-month making 516.1 thousand tons worth $295.2 mn (down 29.5% year-on-year and 24.2% month-on-month).
Cast iron export in January-August declined by 15.7% year-on-year down to 3 mn tons worth circa $1 bn, down 21.1%.
In August, cast iron export made 403.2mn tons, up 83.7% year-on-year and up 84.4% month-on-month. In terms of value, it amounted to $132.1 mn, uo 51.3% year-on-year and up 78.3% month-on-month.
Ferroalloys export in January-August increased by 3.9% year-on-year up to 555.2 thousand tons worth $866.9 mn (-2.8%).
In August, ferroalloy export was down 5.2% year-on-year and 18.5% month-on-month to 60.5 thousand tons tons. In terms of value, it declined by 6.1% year-on-year and by 14.8% month-on-month to amount to $93.4 mn.
