In May 2019, the Russian Far Eastern ports increased their cargo throughput by 3.6% year-on-year. Export was up 3.3%, import up 3.7%, cabotage up 6.1% and transit up 25.8% year-on-year.
Some 80% in the Russian Far Eastern ports’ commodity structure is coal, oil and products. In May, coal and coke accounted for 49% of the total volume, crude oil for 25.4% and oil products for 5.7%. Containerized cargo constituted 7.2% of the total.
Vladivostok
In May 2019 Vladivostok handled 4.7% more cargo than during the same month last year. Import increased by 17.6% and cabotage by 1.2% year-on-year. Transit was down 20% and export was down 2.4% year-on-year.
Vostochny
Cargo throughput via Vostochny increased by 11.7% year-on-year in May 2019. Export was up 12.1%, cabotage by 81% and transit by 35.3%. Import declined by 23.5%.
Vanino
Compared to May 2018 cargo throughput via Vanino decreased by 6.2%. Import was down 32.7%, cabotage down 14.4% and export down 4.5%.
Nakhodka
Cargo throughput via Nakhodka increased by 9.5% year-on-year in May. Import surged 2.2-fold, cabotage was up 27.9%, and export up 6.8%.
Posyet
Cargo throughput via Posyet declined by 13.3% year-on-year in May. Export was down 15%, while cabotage increased by 3%. Import was non-existent.
