Russia’s Non-Ferrous Metals Export Surges in April

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, during January-April 2019 Russia exported 1.2 mn tons of unwrought aluminum, up 21.7% year-on-year. In terms of value, unwrought aluminum export increased by 12.1% up to some $2.2 bn.

    Refined copper and unwrought copper alloys export was up 20.3% to 269.3 thousand tons worth $1.7 bn, up 8.1% year-on-year.

    Unwrought nickel export in January-April increased by 11.2% up to 49.6 thousand tons worth $611.1 mn, up 2.2% year-on-year.

    In April, unwrought aluminum export made 396.2 thousand tons, up 2.3-fold year-on-year and 43.9% month-on-month. In terms of value, unwrought aluminum export increased 2.2-fold year-on-year and by 47.9% month-on-month to make $707.9 mn.

    Refined copper and unwrought copper alloys export in April was up 52.1% year-on-year and 13.5% month-on-month to 73 thousand tons worth $461.6 mn (up 42.2% year-on-year and 15.7% month-on-month).

    Unwrought nickel export in April was up 67.9% year-on-year and 3.7-fold month-on-month to 18.3 thousand tons. In terms of value, it surged 53.9% year-on-year and 3.6-fold month-on-month to $233.5 mn.
