400 Kg of Cocaine Seized in St. Petersburg

  • The Federal Customs service has reported the seizure of 400 kg of cocaine in the Big port of St. Petersburg. The drugs were hidden in a container laden with canned fish that arrived from Ecuador.

    According to the Customs, the overall cost of the more than 2.5 mn doses is estimated to make some 4.5 bn rubles ($69.2 mn).

    The operation took place on June 10. When the container was opened, the customs officers that acted in cooperation with the police found polymer bags stuffed with rectangular cake of pressed white powder, which on chemical analysis proved to be cocaine.

    Currently, the customs and the police are investigating the contraband case looking for the persons involved.
