According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-March Russia exported 6.6 mn tons of wheat and meslin, down 31.9% year-on-year. In terms of value, grain export dropped 15.5% down to $1.46 bn.
Wheat import into Russia during Q1 2019 declined 37.9% down to 54.8 thousand tons. Barley import was down 18% to 21.9 thousand tons, corn import dropped 81.8% down to 600 thousand tons.
In terms of value, wheat import was up 4.8% to $13 mn. Barley import grew 16.7% up to $700 thousand, while corn import declined 27.3% down to $79.5 mn.
In March alone, wheat and meslin export made 1.93 mn tons, down 50.4% year-on-year and down 13.9% month-on-month. In terms of value, it dropped 37.5% year-on-year and 11.9% month-on-month down to $442.7 mn.
Wheat import in March made 20.7% thousand tons, down 45.2% year-on-year, but up 30.2% month-on-month. Corn import grew 1.3% year-on-year and 16.2% month-on-month up to 7.9 thousand tons. Barley import dropped 78.3% year-on-year down to 500 tons.
In terms of value, wheat import in March 2019 made $5.1 bn, down 5.6% year-on-year, but up 37.8% month-on-month. Corn import declined 7.7% year-on-year and 4.7% month-on-month down to $26.2 mn. Barley import was worth $600 thousand, twice as much as in March 2018.
