During the first two months of 2019, according to the RF Federal Customs Service, meat and fish import into Russia declined. Dairy products import, on the contrary, increased.
In January-December 2019, Russia imported 60.5 thousand tons of fresh and frozen meat, down 0.7% year-on-year. Fish import was down 20.7% to 68 thousand tons.
Fresh and froze poultry import increased by 7.4% year-on-year up to 30.4 thousand tons.
Canned meat and meat specialties import grew by 4.8% up to 2.2 thousand tons.
Milk and condensed cream import was up 42.9% to 31 thousand tons. Cheese and cottage cheese import doubled to make 61.9 thousand tons. Butter import also doubled amounting to 18.1 thousand tons.
Vegetable oil import dropped by 86.4% down to 0.6 thousand tons. Palm oil import, on the contrary, grew by 13.8% up to 193.2 thousand tons.
Citrus fruit import was up 17.4% to 454.3 thousand tons, apples import up 16.1% to 201.7 thousand tons, and bananas import up 1.6% to 277.4 thousand tons.
Raw sugar import was down 20% to 0.8 thousand tons, white sugar import, on the contrary, increased by 3.6% up to 49.3 thousand tons.
In February, import of most of the products under study grew year-on-year, except fish (down 23.2% to 35.7 thousand tons), raw sugar (down 42.9% to 0.4 thousand tons) and vegetable oil (down 94.3% to 0.2 thousand tons).
Month-on-month, citrus fruit import was down 16.5% to 206.7 thousand tons, white sugar down 12.5% to 23 thousand tons, cheese and cottage cheese down 1.6% to 17.9 thousand tons, milk and condensed cream down 17.6% to 13.1 thousand tons, butter down 6.6% to 8.5 thousand tons, and vegetable oil down 60%.
Coffee import in January-February grew by 5.8% up to 32.6 thousand tons, while tea import declined by 8.8% down to 22.9 thousand tons.
In February, coffee import was up 10.1% year-on-year and 1.9% month-on-month to 16.4 thousand tons. Tea import was up 3.1% year-on-year and 36.1% month-on-month to 13.2 thousand tons.
