According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during the first two months of 2019 Russia exported 4.8 mn tons of wheat and meslin, down 19.4% year-on-year.
In terms of value, grain export also declined slightly, by 0.3% down to $1.02 bn.
Wheat import into Russia during January-February dropped 30.9% down to 34.2 thousand tons. Corn import declined 25.9% down to 14 thousand tons, barley was not imported during the period under report.
In terms of value, wheat import was up 16.2% up to $7.9 mn. Corn import, on the contrary, was down 31.1% to $52.5 mn.
In February alone, wheat and meslin export plummeted 32.2% year-on-year (-7.2% month-on-month) down to 2.2 mn tons. In terms of value, it made $502.6 mn, down 14.7% year-on-year and 3.3% month-on-month.
Wheat import dropped 57.5% year-on-year and 1.9% month-on-month down to 15.9 thousand tons worth $3.7 mn (-30.2% year-on-year).
Corn import declined 20% year-on-year and 5.6% month-on-month and made 6.8 mn tons worth $27.5 mn (down 57.5% year-on-year, but up 15.1% month-on-month).
