Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 8, 2019

  • This week freights in the Sea of Azov are again testing new bottoms. Charterers/shippers are entering the market with just USd 16 per metric ton from Rostov/Azov/Yeisk ports towards Marmara, but real fixtures have been done at a bit brisker level than the figure mentioned yet, according to Rufco shipbrokers.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $17-18 per ton.

Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $15-16 per ton.

In the Сaspian, the number of grain shipments from both Astrakhan and Aktau is decreasing. There are some open fleet positions indicated over market for the end of February. Grain is only the driver for the market here, other cargoes remain extremely dull.

There are some backhaul cement shipments on regular basis from Iran, and these shipments help to extend voyage time and thus give some kind of support to the market.

The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran remain at $35-36 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration.
