During 2018, Eurosib SPb – Transport Systems carried 12.7 mn tons of cargo, up 4% year-on-year. The growth was due to larger volume carried in hopper cars (+17%), roofed cars (+13%) and gondola cars (+3%). In terms of commodities, most of the growth was generated by coal, fertilizers, paper and pulp.
Increased transportation in hopper cars was thanks to the expanded cooperation with such major mineral fertilizers manufacturers as Azot, FosAgrotrans, and Togliattiazot.
The growth in transport in roofed cars was due to the rolling stock expansion by leasing a large fleet from third parties. Since July 2018, Eurosib has been operating 3.6 thousand of roofed cars. The fleet expansion allowed Eurosib to increase its share in carrying cargoes of its key customers, Mondy SLPK and International Paper.
