Food Products Import

  • During January-November 2018, import of meat and dairy products into Russia declined.

    According to the RF Federal Customs Service, Russia imported 367.6 thousand tons of meat and meat products, down 36.7% year-on-year.

    Fresh and frozen poultry import decreased by 8.4% down to 189.9 thousand tons.

    Fish import declined by 3.6% down to 363.1 thousand tons.

    However, canned meat and meat specialties import increased by 2.8% up to 16.5 thousand tons.

    Condensed milk and cream import was dropped 32.7% down to 149.2 thousand tons.

    Butter import decreased 14.8% down to 79.3 thousand tons.

    Vegetable oil import grew by 13% up to 24.9 thousand tons. In November, Russia imported 123.7 thousand tons of palm oil, up 20.1% month-on-month.

    Citrus fruit import in January-November was up 7.3% to exceed 1.3 mn tons. In November, Russia imported 83.1 thousand tons of apples (-1% month-on-month) and 130.7 thousand tons of bananas (-9.9% month-on-month).

    Sugar import continued to decline, in January-November raw sugar import dropped 57.7% down to 5.7 thousand tons, while white sugar import, on the contrary, increased by 22.2% up to 276.2 thousand tons.

    Coffee import grew by 4.3% up to 179.6 thousand tons, while tea import declined by 2.5% down to 154.6 thousand tons.
