Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 3, 2019

  • Both the Azov and Black Sea markets are not so active as they were before the holidays. Azov freights have lost a dollar for all directions, but in general one can say that rates have stabilized and are moving sideward.

According to Rufco shipbrokers, the gap between charterers’ and owners’ initial freight ideas is not substantial and presently makes just 2 dollars. Not so many open positions are quoted over the market but trade activity and the number of firm cargoes are also limited.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $287-29 per ton.

Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $25-27 per ton.

In the Caspian, the number of vessels had shifted from Astrakhan to Aktau and prefer to get involved in shipments there rather than face ice conditions. The quantity of cargoes open for transportation ex Astrakhan has also decreased.

The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran remain at $41-43 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration proceedings.
