Russian Railways have reported a 14% increase in rail container traffic during January-November 2018. All in all, 4 mn TEU was carried.
Domestic volumes were up 5.4% year-on-year to 1.7 mn TEU, export up 17.4% to over 1 mn TEU, and import up 20.8% to 781.6 thousand TEU.
Transit grew the most, by 32.1% up to 495.4 thousand TEU.
Laden container traffic amounted to 2.72 TEU during January-November, increasing 13.7% year-on-year.
Containerized chemicals and soda were up 9.2% to 447.8 thousand TEU, paper up 8.2% to 284.7 thousand TEU, timber up 41.9% to 349.5 thousand TEU, industrial goods up 9.5% to 256.6 thousand TEU.
Hardware volumes increased 13.8% up to 242.4 thousand TEU, cars 24.2% up to 206 thousand TEU, machinery, equipment and engines 20.8% up to 193.7 thousand TEU.
Ferrous metals grew 18.1% up to 112.7 thousand TEU, construction cargo 15.8% up to 93.5 thousand TEU.
Chemical and mineral fertilizers were down 24.2% to 39.1 thousand TEU, non-ferrous metals down 3.5% to 93.5 thousand TEU.
In November, Russian Railways carried 402.7 thousand TEU, up 17.9% year-on-year.
