Russian Railways have reported a 13.4 increase in rail container traffic during January-October 2018. All in all, 3.64 mn TEU was carried.
Domestic volumes were up 4.9% year-on-year to 1.57 mn TEU, export up 17.5% to 928.8 thousand TEU, and import up 20.5% to 704 thousand TEU.
Transit grew the most, by 31.2% up to 435.9 thousand TEU.
Loaded container traffic amounted to 2.4 TEU during January-October, increasing 13.4% year-on-year.
Containerized chemicals and soda were up 9.8% to 406 thousand TEU, paper up 7.4% to 257.8 thousand TEU, timber up 40.9% to 313.4 thousand TEU, industrial goods up 9.5% to 231.3 thousand TEU.
Hardware volumes increased 13.5% up to 218.1 thousand TEU, cars 23.5% up to 182.6 thousand TEU, machinery, equipment and engines 21% up to 174.9 thousand TEU.
Ferrous metals grew 17.2% up to 101.2 thousand TEU, construction cargo 13.6% up to 84.2 thousand TEU.
Chemical and mineral fertilizers were down 21.9% to 35.5 thousand TEU, non-ferrous metals down 2.7% to 89.8 thousand TEU.
In October, Russian Railways carried 400.2 thousand TEU, up 12.5% year-on-year and up 2.5% month-on-month.
