According to the RF Federal Customs service statistics, in January 2018 Russia exported 3.39 mn tons of ferrous metals, 20.3% above the figure for January 2017.
The value of ferrous metals exported grew 39.6% year-on-year up to $1.68 bn.
Intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export increased 1.5% to 1.19 mn tons. In terms of value this export category was up 26.1% to over $573.9 mn.
Iron and unalloyed steel flat section export grew 19.9% to 728.1 thousand tons physically and surged 42.9% to $430.7 mn in terms of value.
Cast iron export doubled to make 151.5 thousand tons physically and surged 2.4-fold to $57.4 mn in terms of value.
Ferroalloys export dropped 16.9% to 54.2 thousand tons physically and was down 24.1% in terms of value to $85.8 mn.
