In January-October 2017 the sea port of Ukraine handled 493.1 thousand TEU, up 1.3% year-on-year.
Russia’s Novorossiysk during the same period handled 586.3 thousand TEU.
In October, container traffic via the Ukrainian ports increased 30.5% amounting to 59.2 thousand TEU.
Export during the 10 months of 2017 made 212.1 thousand TEU, slightly above the figure of January-October 2016 (+0.9%).
Import traffic grew 2.2% year-on-year to 220.8 thousand TEU.
Cabotage dropped 15.4% to some 1.8 thousand TEU, while transit increased 13.5% to 27.5 thousand TEU.
Odessa handled 422.4 thousand TEU during the 10 months of 2017, up 5.5% year-on-year. The other Ukrainian ports saw their volumes decline.
Thus, container traffic via Yuzhny was down 15.6% to 57.3 thousand TEU.
Container throughput of Chernomorsk (formerly, Ilyichevsk) dropped 26.9% to make 13.3 thousand TEU.
However, it should be noted that the official statistics published by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration do not include container traffic via Ilyichevsk Sea Fishing Port. According to SeaNews, this stevedoring company handled 107.3 thousand TEU in January-October 2017, up 5.9% year-on-year.
