During January-August 2022, the trade turnover between Russia and the countries of the European Union increased by 24.9% year-on-year up to 191 bn euro.
According to Eurostat, while import from EU countries into Russia was down 34.3% during the 8 months of 2022 to 38 bn euro, export from Russia to the European Union surged by 60.9% up to 153 bn euro.
In August 2022, European exports to Russia declined by 43.5% down to 3.9 bn euro, while Russian exports to the EU, on the contrary, grew by 9.8% to 15.7 bn euro.
In January-August 2022 in the ranking of the largest importers from the EU, Russia stepped down to ninth place. Among the largest exporters to the EU countries, Russia continued to rank the third after China and the USA.
