На Сахалине началось проектирование нового морского порта

New Port Project Starts in Sakhalin

  • Design work to develop a new port on the eastern shore of the island of Sakhalin has started. The design is being developed by a consortium between Russia’s Transport Projects and Investments Ltd and the Dutch specialists Witteveen+Bos. The customer is Multifunctional Freight Area.

    The project is worth 34.9 bn rubles ($448.5 mn). 3.96 bn ($50.9 bn) of this sum will be federal money, and the rest will be provate investment.

    The annual capacity of the new port will make 14 mn tons including 5.5 mn tons of oil, 5 mn tons of coal, and 2.8 mn tons of condensed gas. The project also envisages building a general cargo terminal and a bunkering base.

    The start of the construction is scheduled for mid-2023. The facilities are planned to be put into operation gradually during 2025-2027.

    The port will be located in the Terpeniya Bay (literally, Endurance Bay) off the settlement of Novoe in Makarovsky District. The facilities will be a federal property operated on the basis of a 49-year concession.
