Ferrous Metals Export in January-October 2021 Up

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-October 2021 Russia exported 37.2 mn tons of ferrous metals, up 12.9% year-on-year. In terms of value, ferrous metals export grew by 87% up to $24.3 bn.

    Intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export was up 19.4% year-on-year to 13.1 mn tons. In terms of value, it increased by 95.1% up to $7.9 bn.

    Iron and unalloyed steel flat section export in January-October 2021 grew by 15.1% year-on-year up to 7.3 mn tons worth $6.2 bn, up 2.1-fold.

    Cast iron export during the 10 months 2021 increased by 1.3% year-on-year up to 3.2 mn tons worth $1.6 bn, up 64%.

    Ferroalloys export in January-October 2021 grew by 24.7% year-on-year up to 766.3 thousand tons worth $1.2 mn (+63.1%).

    According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, in October 2021 ferrous metals export was down 1.3% year-on-year and down 13.9% month-on-month to 3 mn tons. In terms of value, it surged by 82.5% year-on-year and declined by 15.4% month-on-month to make $2.4 bn.

    Intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export in October 2021 was down 24.3% year-on-year and down 53.9% month-on-month making 671 thousand tons. In terms of value, it increased by 34.9% year-on-year and decreased by 55.8% month-on-month to $464.9 mn.

    Iron and unalloyed steel flat section export in October 2021 was up 35.8% year-on-year and up 11.2% month-on-month making 867.5 thousand tons worth $822.4 mn (up 2.5-fold year-on-year and up 6.5% month-on-month).

    Cast iron export in October 2021 made 260.7 thousand tons, down 4.5% year-on-year and up 2.2-fold month-on-month. In terms of value, it amounted to $157.6 mn, up 77.7% year-on-year and up 2.2-fold month-on-month.

    Ferroalloy export in October 2021 was up 25.8% year-on-year and up 35.6% month-on-month to 79.6 thousand tons. In terms of value, it surged 2.1-fold year-on-year and grew by 57.1% month-on-month to make $156.6 mn.
