According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Arctic basin ports in April 2021 decreased by 26.8% year-on-year. Cabotage, which accounts for the major share of the total, declined by 26.6%. Export decreased by 36.4%, import by 44.1%.
The share of the Arctic basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in April 2021 amounted to 2.4%.
Laden container throughput in the Arctic decreased by 30.3% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 2.8% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 97.2%. Cabotage made 98.9% of all the laden containers, imports 0.9%, exports 0.2%.
Empty container traffic declined by 18.1%.
The port of Dudinka accounted for 56.7% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Arctic basin sea ports in April. Arkhangelsk handled 23.3% of the total, and Murmansk 20.1%.
