Container Traffic via Azov and Black Sea Basin Ports Up 6.1% in September 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Azov and Black Sea basin ports in September 2020 increased by 6.1% year-on-year. Import was up 9.5%, and export up 3.7%. Cabotage, on the contrary, dropped by 83.6%. Transit was non-existent in September.

    The share of the Azov and Black Sea basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in September 2020 amounted to 12.5%.

    Laden container throughput grew by 1% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 5.1% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 94.9%. Imports made 51.12% of all the laden containers, exports 48.85%, and cabotage 0.03%.

    Empty container traffic increased by 29.4%.

    The port of Novorossiysk accounted for 98.4% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Azov and Black Sea basin sea ports in September. Azov handled 1.4%, and Kavkaz 0.2% of the total.
