Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 49, 2018

  • In the Sea of Azov, weather conditions have improved and shipping is back to normal in the region. Rates have gained 1-2 dollars again since the last report.

According to Rufco shipbrokers, this increase is mainly due to the risk of different sorts of potential delays due to the weather, ice conditions or political uncertainty in the region.

Also, surprisingly or not, more and more players prefer to use Euro in the region due to political risks, and their number is increasing day by day.

According to Rufco, freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $30-32 per ton.

Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $28-30 per ton.

In the Caspian Sea, freight rates remain intact since last report. Demand and supply proportions would determine further market direction there.

The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran remain at $48-51 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration proceedings.
