The consolidated cargo throughput of the stevedoring companies incorporated in Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group reached 131.4 mn tons during January-November 2017, decreased 2.4% year-on-year.

Novorossiysk-based terminals (which include NCSP proper, IPP, Novoroslesexport, Novorossiysk Shiprepair Yard, Novorossiysk Grain Terminal and Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal, which is a JV with Chernomortransneft), handled 77.4 mn tons, up 3.1% compared to the result for the same period of 2016.

Baltiysk, where Baltic Stevedore operates a container terminal, saw its throughput increase both in terms of TEU (+63.9%) and tonnage-wise (+37.9%).

Primorsk was down 9.9% year-on-year to 53.2 mn tons.

The major share in the entire throughput is traditionally liquid cargo, which was down 6.7% to 97.5 mn tons.  Crude oil traffic decreased only in Primorsk, down 12.2% to 40.8 mn tons.

Crude oil decrease was planned. Transneft announced in March this year that crude oil traffic via Primorsk is to be cut 13% this year, the target throughput figure being 44 mn tons.

Novorossiysk increased crude oil volume 0.5% to 28.5 mn tons.

The aggregate oil products traffic via the group’s terminals 5.6% to 27.2 mn tons. Both Primorsk and Novorossiysk saw their volumes decline, the former by 1.6% to 12.3 mn tons and the latter by 8.7% to 14.9 mn tons.

Bulk cargo throughout surged 35.6% to 15.4 mn tons, much due to the increasing handling of grains (up 73.9% to 9.9 mn tons) and coal (up 15.6% to 1.9 mn tons).

The volume of other bulk cargoes declined. Thus, ferrous ore was down 7.2% to 2.4 mn tons, sugar was down 26% to 452 thousand tons, chemical cargo was down 14% to 680 thousand tons.

General cargo traffic decreased 6.4% to 12.7 tons, due to the lower volumes of ferrous metals (-8.2% to 10.9 mn tons). Timber and logs were also down 30.6% to 382 thousand tons.

Other cargo types demonstrated positive growth. Perishables increased 6.3-fold to 254 thousand tons, non-ferrous metals grew 5.4% to some 1.1 mn tons.

Container traffic grew both in Novorossiysk and Baltiysk.
