Russian Railways has delivered the first shipment of cars from China to Chelyabinsk using several transport modes including sea, rail and road.
28 cars were stuffed into 40’ containers and shipped by sea from Shanghai to Vladivostok. There, the containers were unloaded and transported to Yekaterinburg by rail on board a block train. From Yekaterinburg to Chelyabinsk, the cargo was carried by road.
According to RZD Logistics, car transportation market from China grew 300% year-on-year in 2023, which means multimodal services are needed to cater for containerized car and parts traffic from China to Russia.
