Transport and Logistics Hub Project for Murmansk Region

  • Far East and Arctic Development Corporation and logistics integrator Rusatom Cargo, part of Rosatom state corporation, signed an agreement to cooperate on developing West Transport and Logistics Hub in Murmansk region.

    The facility will be located in the settlement of Belokamenka. Together with a similar hub in Vladivostok and a fleet of container vessels it will form the backbone of the Eurasian Container Transit project.

    The project is aimed at launching the first regular container line to transport containers between the East and West parts of Eurasia using the Northern Sea Route.

    In the western transport and logistics hub of the Eurasian Container Transit containers are to be transshiped between ice-strengthened and conventional container ships.

    The terminal will have two deep water berths capable of accommodating vessels of up to 6,000 TEU capacity. The design capacity of the hub is some 10 mn tons per annum.
