Атомный контейнеровоз «Севморпуть» отправился из Петропавловска-Камчатского в Мурманск

Nuclear-Powered Container Ship “Sevmorput” Starts Return Voyage from Kamchatka

  • The nuclear-powered container vessel “Sevmorput” has set off on a return voyage from the port of Patropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the Kamchatka Peninsula to Murmansk.

The vessel took on board 204 containers, Kamchatka Kray Governor Vladimir Solodov said in his social media account. One of the cargoes is fish products.

The “Sevmorput” is making her first round trip this year under the federal program to subsidize Arctic coastal shipping between St. Petersburg, Murmansk and the Russian Far East.

The vessel delivered metal structures and sawn goods to Kamchatka and loaded reefer container for the return voyage.

The mechanism for subsidizing regular freight shipping by the Northern Sea Route was introduced by the Government of the Russian Federation at the start of 2022. An order to this effect was signed on March 2022.

For Russian shippers, privileged tariffs for transporting their goods using the Northern Sea Route are set.
