Rail and Truck Ferry “Alexandr Deyev” Delivered

  • An acceptance act has been signed on board the newly built rail and truck ferry “Alexandr Deyev” built by Amur Shipyard, United Shipbuilding Company has reported.

The ceremony marks the delivery of the vessel to the customer. The new ferry will be deployed carrying cargo between the island of Sakhalin and mainland Russia.

Unlike the Sakhalin Type ferries currently deployed in the service, the “Alexandr Deyev” has no restrictions as to the sailing area and weather conditions. It is capable of transporting 1.5 times more cargo and twice as many passengers.

The “Alexandr Deyev” can sail at a speed of no less than 3 knots in 1 m thick ice and at 6-8 knots in ice up to 80 cm thick.

After all the documents for the vessel are finalized, the ferry will enter the service between Vanino and Kholmsk, Sakhalin.

At present, a sistership of the “Alexandr Deyev”, the rail and truck ferry “Vasiliy Oschepkov” is under construction.
