India Plans to Have More Containers Handled via Vladivostok

  • A delegation from India headed by an Indian Ministry of ports, shipping and waterways official has visited Commercial Port of Vladivostok, the port said in a statement.

    The agenda included cooperation prospects and planned throughput increase. Before coming to Vladivostok, the Indian delegation paid a visit to the RF Ministry of transport in Moscow and met with the Minister for the development of the Russian Far East and Arctic.

    The Indian party is interested in expanding container traffic between East India ports and the Russian Far East. According to Commercial Port of Vladivostok, at present 140,000 TEU are moved between Russia and India annually. By 2042 this figure is expected to surge 5.5-fold to 760,000TEU.
